New / Returning Players
The Central Savannah River Area Tennis Association (CSRATA) is a division of the United States Tennis Association (USTA). Here are some basic guidelines for getting started on a CSRATA league:

  1. Teams are formed according to NTRP (National Tennis Rating Program) ratings, such as 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, etc.
  2. If you are a beginner, read about Tennis 1-2-3 on this  page. If you do not have an NTRP rating and do not know what rating your might be, review the general characteristics the USTA established and self-rate.
  3. If you’re a returning player, read about CSRA league tennis on this page. You begin your league season with your current NTRP computer rating. If you received your computer rating before the 2001 league year, you may self-rate. Computer ratings stay in the system for five years starting with the 2001 computer rating.
  4. Once you know your rating or after you self-rate, contact the designated coordinator for the league you are interested in. He or she will pass your name on to other players and our local facilities.
  5. You may be invited to go out and hit with other players and to make connections to help you with your team selection.
  6. Once you've decided on a team, the captain will give you a team number. Use that number to register for a team on TennisLink.

CSRATA league fees plus an additional USTA TennisLink user fee are paid when you register for a team on TennisLink, the USTA's (United States Tennis Association) online support for USA League Tennis. A USTA membership ($) that is valid for the league season is required.

USA Team Tennis for Adults
USA Team Tennis allows adult tennis players the opportunity to develop their basic tennis skills in an energetic, exciting and fun-filled, team-spirited atmosphere. The program lasts for six to eight weeks and consists of weekly team practices and match play. Play is intended for 1.0 – 2.5 NTRP (National Tennis Rating Program) level players who are 19 years of age or older. Players graduating from the USA Tennis 1-2-3 or other instructional programs often move into USA Team Tennis to further develop their game. This league features progression to State Championships.

The CSRATA's USA Team Tennis League plays during the fall (Sept. - Dec.) and spring (Jan. - April) seasons. Check our calendar for league season dates and deadlines.

USA League Tennis is the world’s largest recreational tennis league providing organized, structured team matches for all ability levels. The format is two singles and three doubles positions. This league features progression to State Championships, Section Championships and then onto National Championships. Players must play in at least two Adult League matches during a season to advance to the State Championships.

Although the age requirement to participate in the Seniors' League is 50, many participants are in their 60's, 70's and a few are playing well into their 80's. If you do not have a current NTRP rating you may self-rate. Men and women do not play on the same team. The format is three doubles positions. This league features progression to State Championships, Section Championships and then onto National Championships. Players must play in at least two Seniors' League matches during a season to advance to the State Championships.

The CSRATA's Seniors' Mixed Doubles League plays during the spring (Jan. - April) and summer (April - July) seasons. Check our calendar for league season dates and deadlines. Come on! Southern Combo Doubles
Southern Combo Doubles is the most flexible adult team format in the USTA and the fastest-growing adult program in the Southern Section. Players may self-rate or play by their NTRP computer or verified rating. (Combo League match play does not affect a player's rating.) Team play is available in Adult combined levels 5.0, 5.5, 6.5, 7.5, 8.5, 9.5 and 10.5 and Senior combined levels 6.5, 7.5 and 8.5. Seniors (50+) may play in Adult and Senior Divisions. Players of the same gender with different NTRP levels may play together, making it easy to form teams. For example, a 2.5 and 3.0 may play on a 5.5 team together. Players may also play in two different NTRP levels. Men and women do not play on the same team. The format is three doubles positions. This league features progression to State Championships and Sectional Championships. Players must play in at least one Combo League match to advance to the State Championships.
